BIOELECTRIC SIGNALS AMPLIFICATION EXPLOITING THE SWITCHING BEHAVIOUR OF

1990
In this paper the authors show the results obtained from a technique based on the switching behavior of the electrodes used for acquiring biopotentials (in the present case ECG). In the circuit proposed, a combination of switches and storage capacitor is used forcing narrow current pulses to flow through the electrodes. Thus during the switching transient the equivalent electrode impedance is small and substantially constant, the records being substantially improved compared with those obtained from conventional systems, even if low common mode impedances are connected.
