Evaluation of some immunological parameters in chronic kidney disease patients in Erbil- Iraq

2017
This study was conducted to investigate risk factors, measure some inflammatory mediators included (IL-8 and IFN-gamma), immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA and IgM) complement protiens (C3 and C4). 30 chronic kidney disease patients and 13 healthy persons (control group). Their age ranged (20-65) for both studied groups. The studied group older than 50 years, obese and overweighted persons were at risk to infect with CKD. Family history has no such a risk for CKD. 35% of the patients were smokers. There was no any significant difference in WBC counts, and decrease in monocytes were observed (p=0.06), there were significant decrease in lymphocytes and granulocytes (p=0.001) and (p=0.03) respectively. However, significant increase was found in IL-8, IFN-ƴ, IgG, IgA, IgM, C3 and C4 (p>0.05). It was observed in this study that CKD was more common among older ages, the males were more susceptible to get CKD.
