The study aims to explore the possibilities of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in detecting lesions of anatomical structures of shoulder joint. We present the results of examinations of the patients with instability of the shoulder joint. These examinations were carried out by means of a MR tomography using a high-fi eld MR-tomograph with magnetic fi eld intensity of 1,5 Tl. The results of the MRI diagnosis were compared with intraoperative data of diagnostic arthroscopy. Defi nitive diagnosis allows us to defi ne further patient management, to correct surgery planning, to decrease sick-lists duration and improve quality of patient’s life. The most common causes of low precision MRI is an underestimation of hyaline cartilagedamage and joint capsule, a reassessment of signs of damage to the fi brous lips (especially the anterior segment). The most promising direction of development of radiation damage to the diagnosis of the shoulder joint, in order to improve the diagnostic information content, is the method of indirect and direct MR arthrography, with contrast agents (paramagnetic).
