The comparison of two basal insulin analogue-insulin detemir or insulin glargin in type 2 diabetes patients

2010
Objective To compare efficacy、safety and change in weight after once-daily insulin detemir or insulin glargin added to oral antidiabetic drugs in poorly controlled type 2 diabetes patients. Methods 60 type 2 diabetic patients with poor glycemic control by oral antidiabetic drugs were randomly divided into the A group(n = 30,to receive once-daily bedtime insulin detemir injection)and the B group(n = 30,to receive once-daily bedtime insulin glargin injection). The observation lasted for 12 weeks. The parameters measured before and after treatment included fasting plasma glucose(FPG)、HbA1c and weight.Hypoglycemia was also noted. Results After 12 weeks'treatment,FPG and HbA1c were both significantly decreased than before(P 0.01),but no statistical difference between two groups(P 0.05).The increased value of weight was less in A group than in B group(P 0.01).The incidence of hypoglycemia was similar between two groups(3.3% vs 3.3%).Conclusion As compared to once-daily insulin glargin,Once-daily insulin detemir added to oral antidiabetic drugs in poorly controlled type 2 diabetes patients was similar on efficacy and safety, but was less in the weight gain.
