602 Aerosolized Liposomal Cycloporine (L-Csa) Shows Antimicrobial Activity to Different Opportunistic Microorganism

2011
patients were diagnosed with bacterial co-pathogens including Haemophilus influenzae (n 4) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n 5), Streptococcus pneumoniae (n 1) and Staphylococcus aureus (n 1). The mean fall in FEV1 in patients with HRV and a co-pathogen was 0.27L compared to baseline (p 0.05). The mean fall in FEV1 at follow-up was 0.07L compared to baseline (p 0.54). All patients received a course of oral corticosteroids (1mg/kg reducing second daily by 5mg) and specific therapy for any co-pathogen detected. Conclusions: Acute HRV infection is associated with a significant fall in FEV1 which generally resolves within 3 months. Whether HRV is associated with a late impact on lung function or the development of chronic HRV infection in LTX patients could not be determined within the time frame of this study.
