Häufigkeit und prognostische Bedeutung der traumatischen Subarachnoidalblutung

2002
In head injury, traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage (t-SAH) is diagnosed using cranial computed tomography. In the literature, information concerning incidence and prognostic value of t-SAH are contradictory. 252 patients suffering from head injury were investigated retrospectively. Signs of t-SAH were found in 27.8% of patients. The lower the initial Glasgow-coma-scale, the higher the incidence of t-SAH was found. The extend of t-SAH correlated significantly with the clinical outcome. Recognition of t-SAH is an important diagnostic, as well as prognostic aspect in the evaluation of head injury.
