Evaluation ofserum ferritin as a marker foradult Still's disease activity

2000
highserumferritin values (>10000 (tg/l) weredetected intwopatients withadult Still's disease. Theferritin concentrations decreased tonormalafter adequate treat- ment.During aoneyearfollow upferritin concentration was helpful inmonitoring disease activity andguiding decisions about treatment. Raised concentrations ofsoluble interleukin 2 receptors (sCD25) werealso found. Detection offerritin values above3000 ,tg/l should leadtotheconsideration ofStill's disease whenthere isanacutefebrile illness without evidence forbacterial orviral infec- tions, serumferritin beingsuitable for monitoring treatment.
