Critical Care Considerations in the Bariatric Patient

Bariatric patients have challenging baseline physiology and body mechanics that put them at higher risk for complications when they become critically ill. This chapter will describe the pathophysiology in the changes in mechanics and highlight some of the special considerations needed to manage a critically ill bariatric surgery patient.
