Analysis of cumulative hadron-nucleus interactions at 4--40 GeV/c as a function of target mass

1988
The 2-meter propane chamber has been used to analyze the properties of cumulative pC and ..pi../sup -/C interactions at p/sub p/ = 4.2 and 10 GeV/c and p/sub ..pi..//sub =/ = 40 GeV/c as a function of the minimum value of the mass of the object with which the incident hadron interacts. Multiplicity characteristics of cumulative collisions, distributions in rapidity and tranverse momentum of secondary particles in cumulative collisions, and inclusive spectra of cumulative hadrons have been investigated. It has been observed in particular that there is a universal nature of the distributions of the number of cumulative interactions and distributions in multiplicity of cumulative hadrons.
