Review on the mathematical models of flow and sediment transport in Jingjiang River and Dongting Lake

The fluvial process relationship between Jingjiang River and Dongting Lake is a very important problem to the flood control system in the middle reach of the Yangtze River.It also guides the projects of river and lake engineering in this area.The mathematical model of flow and sediment transport is a key technical tool to simulate the long-term fluvial processes.After reviewing some representative numerical models for flow and sediment transport in Jingjiang River and Dongting Lake, the authors concluded that the complexity of fluvial processes between the river and lake becomes the bottleneck of the mathematical model.Finally some suggestions are presented for the improvement of the mathematical model.
