The relationship between polymorphism of Toll-like receptor 4 gene and septic acute respiratory distress syndrome

Objective To determine the relationship between Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4) gene Asp299Gly and Thr399Ile polymorphism with Septic acute respiratory distress syndrome.Method The subjects were genotyped for the Asp299Gly and Thr399Ile polymorphisms in the toll-like receptor 4 by restriction fragment length polymorphism polymerase chain reaction(PCR-RFLP).Result No significant difference in the distribution of Asp299Gly and Thr399Ile polymorphism was found between Septic acute respiratory distress syndrome patients and healthy control subjects(χ2 =0.043,P=0.635;χ2=0.071,P=0.583).Conclusion These data suggested that there was no association between the Asp299Gly and Thr399Ile polymorphisms in the toll-like receptor 4 and the risk of developing septic acute respiratory distress syndrome.
