The Clinical Significance and Changes of Serum Cardiac Troponin I Levels in Newborns with Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy

2008
Objective To study the clinical significance and changes of serum cTnI levels in newborn with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Methods CTnI levels were detected in 50 newborns with HIE both on 1st day and on 10th day,and other 50 normal term newborns were detected as controls. Results CTnI levels in newborn with HIE on 1st day were obviously higher than those in controls. CTnI levels in newborns with mild HIE had no obvious difference with those in controls. CTnI levels in newborns with moderate and severe HIE were obviously higher than those in newborns with mild HIE and controls. With HIE deteriorating,cTnI levels increased. CTnI levels in newborn with moderate and severe HIE were obviously decreased after treatment. Conclusion Serum cTnI levels in newborn with HIE were obviously higher than those in controls,it suggests newborns with HIE have myocardium injury. Detection of cTnI levels is important in diagnosis, therapy and prognosis.
