Influence of Ionizing Radiation on Ciliary Cell Activity in the Respiratory Tract

The effects of roentgen irradiation on the ciliary beat frequency of the trachea of rabbits were investigated in vitro by a light reflex method. Small doses produced only temporary changes in the beat frequency of the cilia but with large doses the movements were completely and permanently arrested. (auth)
