Comparative operational dosimetry between FDG-PET/CT and fluorocholine PET/CT in a clinical routine practice

2011
2377 Objectives Since we used in a routine practice F18-Flurocholine with PET/CT (FCh-PET/CT) for prostate cancer, we want to assess technologists operational dosimetry and compare these values from FDG-PET ones because the protocols are different. Methods Protocols used: Preparation of radiotracer was done in the same way except for adminsitered activity (FDG : 3 up to 4 MBq/Kg ; FCh : 2 MBq/kg). For FDG-PET, standard protocol were used (60 min delay and rest post injection). For FCh-PET, injection was done directly patient installed on PET/CT (no delay required). Dual aquisitions were recorded. (early and delayed PET) The study of 8 technologists operational dosimetry was performed for 53 consecutives patients using FDG and identical population with FCh. Data (HP10, HP(0,07) were recorded and computed with APVL software. Results The following results thanks to the operational doses of the 8 technologists after examinating 53 patients. That9s why we obtain the average exposure for one technologist with one patient with FDG and FCh protocol. HP(10) : 0,50 µsV vs 1,03 µsV HP(0,07) : 0,45 µsV vs 1,22 µsV Conclusions In clinical routine pratice, radiation exposure for technician related to F-Choline PET/CT seems to be -twice hight for the equivalent of in-depth total dose HP mSv pure the envisaged period ;( Hp(10)) - three times hight the dose of the skin possible for the level where this value is superior to Hp ( 10 ) ;(Hp(0.07))
