Assessment of Grating Acuity in the Multicenter Study of Cryotherapy for Retinopathy of Prematurity

1992
The goal of the Multicenter Study of Cryotherapy for Retinopathy of Prematurity (CRYO-ROP) was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of cryotherapy as a treatment for severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). In the initial design of the study, the primary outcome measure was an assessment of the anatomic status of the retina based on masked readings of photographs of the posterior pole. This primary outcome measure was supplemented by the examining physician’s unmasked assessments of retinal status and visual function.
