Coping with Diabetes: Healthcare Provider Attributes that Influence Type 2 Diabetes Adherence

Diabetes is a chronic disease affecting over 29 million people in the United States requiring the integration of complex medical tasks into a person’s daily life. Recently, many healthcare systems have placed increased emphasis on providing patient-centered care (PCC). Compassionate care has been shown to increase engagement, bonding, and social connection resulting in increased patient comfortability with sharing feelings, concerns, desire to participate in care.
