Quality in stroke care-results from 2002 and 2004 National Sentinel Audit of Stroke as applied to Mid-Western Regional Hospital and stroke unit, St. Camillus Hospital, Limerick
2008
The results of the study reveal that while SU processes of care was 74% compliant with standards in 2004 (a 12% increase from 2002); compliance with stroke service organisational standards was only 15% and 43% in the MWRH and SU respectively. This reflects the absence of a comprehensive specialist stroke team or acute SU at the MWRH as well as an overall lack of an integrated interdisciplinary approach to stroke care at both sites.
