SOME EXPERIMENTS ON A SUPERCAVITATING PLANE HYDROFOIL WITH JET-FLAP

1969
An experimental investigation of the supercavitating flow around a plane hydrofoil equipped with a jet-flap at the trailing edge has been carried out in a water tunnel in which the working section has rigid walls. Results are presented for a range of cavitation numbers between 0.3 and 1.2, and for jet momentum coefficients up to 0.5. The pressure forces exerted on the model have been calculated from the measured distributions of static pressure on the surface of the model. The effect of the jet-flap on the pressure force at large values of cavitation numbers is seen to be much less than that predicted by the linearized theory of Ho for zero cavitation number.
