Genotyping study of chronic hepatitis Cpatients with type 2 diabetes

Objective To assess the risk factor HCV genotype in the development of type 2 diabetes in CHC patients.Methods Genotype analysis were done in 21 CHC patients with type 2 diabetes and 113 without diabetes.Results The prevalence of genotype Ⅲ was higher (42.9% vs 19.5%) in patients with type 2 diabetes than those no diabetes. Conclusion Patients infected with HCV genotype Ⅲ may be at high risk to develop type 2 diabetes.
