Approach to the Management of Cancer Pain

Abstract Pain is one of the most prevalent and distressing symptoms for patients with cancer. Comprehensive assessment and timely management of acute cancer pain with appropriate titration of medications are keys to ensuring cancer patients have an acceptable quality of life. Assessment and management of pain should include comprehensive evaluation of psychosocial and spiritual elements of suffering, as well as appropriate management of opioids and adjuvant analgesics to treat total pain.
