The method of manufacturing the modified coal

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing modified coal capable of improving production efficiency while suppressing the generation of inconvenience such as the clogging of piping.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing modified coal using porous coal as raw material, comprising: a step where the porous coal and solvent oil are mixed; a step where the slurry obtained in the mixing step is dehydrated; a step where the slurry is subjected to solid-liquid separation; and a step where the cake obtained in the solid-liquid separation step is dried. The oil content including the solvent oil recovered in the solid-liquid step and the drying step is circulated to the mixing step, and, in the solid-liquid separation step, the oil-containing ratio of the cake is controlled to 15 to 40 mass%. It is preferable that the concentration of fine powder in the oil content circulating to the mixing step is controlled to 5 to 14 mass%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
