Photo-stimulated evolution of different structural forms of silver in solutions, composite and oxide coatings

Abstract The influence of UV irradiation on the formation Ag-containing composite and oxide films has been studied. UV irradiation accelerates the formation and growth Ag small molecular clusters and nanoparticles in Ag-containing film-forming solutions, composite and oxide coatings. Photochemical processes and evolution of different structural forms of silver during coatings synthesis were studied by the optical spectroscopy, luminescence methods, SEM analysis. Prepared transparent Ag-containing oxide films containing different structural forms of silver demonstrate high antibacterial activity against bacteria Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 209P.
