Review of ankylosing spondylitis with autoimmune thyroid disease

Ankylosing spondylitis is a commen systemic autoimmune disease.Except for spine and joints, mutiple systems are invovled, such as eyes, heart and lungs.Autoimmune thyroid diseases are a group of organ-specific immune diseases characterized by the presence in serum of high-titer antibodies against thyroid.Some connective tissue diseases such as Sjogren’s syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus are often accompanied with autoimmune thyroid diseases.However, thyroid disorders of ankylosing spondylitis patients are rarely reported.This article is reviewed the prevalence and pathogenesis of ankylosing spondylitis with autoimmune thyroid disease.
