IIT flue gas desulfurization process

1982
An economical process has been developed on a pilot-plant scale for removing SO/SUB/2 and particulates simultaneously from high-sulphur coal flue gas. The scrubbing solution contains calcium pyrophosphate and ammonium pyrophosphate salts. The process produces material containing phosphate, nitrogen and potash which can be used as a fertiliser. Details of the process and the pilot plant operation are given.
