Síndorme de Sjogren: relato de caso clínico

Sjogren syndrome has been considered a systemic auto-immune disease characterized by xerostomia, xerophthalmia and sometimes the association with other connective tissue diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis. This syndrome is relevant to dentistry due to complex alterations that can be observed in salivary glands and, consequently, in the mouth. Many of those alterations will be the earliest in the syndrome. The treatment is generally of support and multidisciplinary, through the actuation of the dentist, the ophthalmologist and the rheumatologist in order to give to the patients better live conditions. The aim of this work was describe some of the syndrome’s characteristics through the presentation of a clinical case. Key words: Sjogren syndrome, keratoconjunctivitis sicca, xerostomia.
