Nitrogen regime of drained peaty soils

1994
The principles of formation of the nitrogen regime of drained peaty soils in a latitudinal direction through soil-climate zones of European Russia are examined. It is established that the intensity of processes of mineralization of organic matter, the transformation of nitrogen-bearing compounds, and the formation of the nitrogen regime in drained soils with identical botanical composition of the peat and identical drainage rate are determined by the latitudinal position of the peat bog, the time of its development, and the crops being cultivated.
