[The Guideline of the end-of-life care for the acute disease and intensive care by the JAAM, JSICM and JCS].

The Guideline of the end-of-life care for the acute disease and intensive care was explored from the Japanese Association of Acute Medicine (JAAM), the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine (JSICM), and the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS) on November, 2014. This guideline has been made to use for the end-of-life care of the patients admitted and treated in the intensive care unit. The decision of end-of-life of the patient for the acute disease and intensive care is evaluated by the medical stuffs including the medical doctors, nurses, and/or other medical personnel. This guideline describes that withholding, withdrawing or termination of resuscitation are chosen according to the advanced directives of the patient, to the decision of family of the patient and to the conscience by the medical stuffs, and emphases that the importance of the records on the medical chart of the process for the decision as the end-of-life care.
