A study of phase separation characteristics of perfluoropolyether/phosphazene (X-1P) lubricant mixtures on hard disk surfaces

1999
Phase separation of carbon coated disks lubricated with perfluoropolyether/phosphazene (X-1P) mixtures are studied using microscopy. Ambient condition and hot/wet conditions are investigated using nitrogenated carbon overcoat. It is found that phase separation is not only a function of temperature and humidity but also a function of the nitrogen content of the carbon surface.
