STABILITY PROBLEMS IN PLIOCENE MARINE DEPOSITS OF VARYING GRANULOMETRY. PROCEEDINGS OF THE ELEVENTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SOIL MECHANICS AND FOUNDATION ENGINEERING, SAN FRANCISCO, 12-16 AUGUST 1985

1985
The subject of this report is the landslide-activity of a tuscan area (Italy) characterized by Pliocene marine deposits lying in a transitional area between the coast and off shore. Following a description of the geomorphological environment and of the stratigraphic series, subdivided into 5 units on the basis of its granulometric features, the methodology used in the study of the slide phenomena is described. The study area is subdivided into elementary one km squares, with its salient features given in the corresponding chart. Lastly, there is a description of the influence of lithology, morphology and agricultural practices of man on the landslide phenomena. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 287689.
