Radar Absorbing NiCo Nanoparticles in Carbon Matrix of Nanocomposites in the Microwave Range

2021
The paper focuses on the synthesis of NiCo/C nanocomposites comprising the Ni–Co alloy nanoparticles uniformly distributed and stabilized in a carbon matrix. The synthesis is performed by using IR pyrolysis of organometallic precursors obtained from a mixture of dymethylformamide solutions of polyacrylonitrile, nickel and cobalt chloride hexahydrates. It is shown how the synthesis temperature and the metal concentration in precursors affect the size and composition of the Ni–Co alloy nanoparticles. Electromagnetic properties of NiCo/C nanocomposites are investigated in the range of 3–12 GHz. The influence of the synthesis conditions is studied in relation to the frequency profiles of the reflection and absorption coefficients. It is shown that radar absorbing properties of NiCo/C nanocomposites can be controlled by changing the synthesis conditions.
