Surgical Resection of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors After Treatment with Imatinib

Background Surgical resection of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) has been the most effective therapy for these rare tumors. Imatinib has been introduced as systemic therapy for locally advanced and metastatic GIST.
