Installation of a dilution refrigerator at a polarized neutron facility

Abstract The installation of a 3 He 4 He-dilution refrigerator at a polarized neutron facility of the TRIGA Mark II reactor is described. The system provides a base temperature of 20 mK and includes an asymmetric superconducting Helmholtz pair for magnetic fields up to 1.5 T. Due to the asymmetric field configuration no depolarization of the neutron beam is observed. Furthermore, we report on a partial automatization of the measurements by a laboratory computer system.
