Synthesis of Silver Colloids with a Homemade Light Source

2018
A really easy synthesis of Ag NPs with different shapes as spheres, triangles and disks were obtained from silver nitrate, sodium citrate and sodium borohydride in different stoichiometric amounts. Silver colloids with a variety of colors were obtained after irradiation for several hours with a homemade light source, from 400 to 715 nm. The evolution of plasmonic response was follows by UV–Vis spectroscopy and the morphology of Ag nanoparticles was determined by transmission electron microscopy. The procedure followed in this work results an alternative synthesis method of low-cost, modifiers-free, easy and simple to obtain Ag nanoparticles with different shapes and sizes.
