ARTERIAL AND VENOUS THROMBOSIS-TWO FACES OF THE SAME DISEASE. CASE REPORT (Abstract): Abnormal activation of the coagulation cascade in cancer patients leads to arterial and venous thrombotic events. If the link between venous thromboembolism and malignancy has long been known, cancer-related stroke is a newly recognized entity. We present the case of a 90-year-old woman who developed two concurrent ischemic strokes in the right posterior cerebral artery territory and deep vein thrombosis of the left lower limb, cascade of events that led to the diagnosis of a cancer. We highlight some of the particularities of cancer-related stroke to raise awareness upon this complication that leads to increased morbidity and mortality in cancer patients. We suggest that special attention should be paid to patients with concomitant thrombotic events in different vascular areas because a systemic underlying substrate may be involved.
