These data show that calcium mobilization is a robust marker of HS supernatants. However, only a subset of patients show changes in VGSC trafficking which appears to be independent of their pain status. Supernatants varied considerably in their effect suggesting that the mediator content of this ‘inflammatory soup' varies on a patient-by-patient basis therefore potentially mediating different aspects of hypersensitivity.
