Application of dietary guide cards in family members of patients with severe head injury

Objective To explore the implementation effect of dietary guide card on dietary guidance in family members of patients with severe head injury.Methods A total of 98 family members of patients with severe head injury were selected and randomly divided into two groups:49 in the observation group which received routine verbal health education,and 49 in the control group which received dietary guidance education from dietary guide card based on routine verbal health education.And the situation of dietary knowledge of patients with severe head injury and the degree of nursing satisfaction among family members of patients with severe head injury were compared between the two groups.Results The understanding rate of dietary knowledge was 85.71％ in the observation group,which was higher than 61.22％ in the control group; the degree of nursing satisfaction was 81.63％ in the observation group,which was higher than 57.14％ in the control group; and the differences were statistically significant (x2 =7.69,7.16,respectively; P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions Dietary guide information cards can enhance the understanding rate of dietary knowledge among family members of patients with severe head injury,which makes it possible to provide timely and reasonable nutrition for patients,and it is beneficial to the early recovery of patients and can help to improve the nurse-patient relationship.
