Multifunctional metal oxides and 2D materials utilizing carbon nanotubes as a base template for clean energy and other applications

2016
Metal oxides have been shown to have wide ranging material, physical and chemical properties while 2D materials has it unique two-dimensional planar structure and in this review, we show that a hybrid composite utilizing carbon nanotubes are used as a base template, forming a hybrid core-shell type of nanostructure, effectively enhances and extends the range of applications. There are two unique properties of carbon nanotubes which the first is its versatility in structural tubular forms and second, the possibility in enhancing the properties of carbon nanotubes itself. Several applications will also be reviewed here.
