Renal failure in the course of reactivation of varicella-zoster virus infection in a renal transplant recipient

Summary Renal failure developed in a 20-year-old female renal transplant recipient in the course of reactivation of varicella-zoster virus infection. The patient was treated with acyclovir and immunosuppression was continued. A year later renal function in the transplanted kidney was satisfactory.
