Prevalence and influencing factors of diabetes in Jidong community of Tangshan City

Objective To survey the prevalence and influencing factors of diabetes in the population in Jidong community of Tangshan City.Methods The healthy residents(n=8443,male 4471 and female 3972) in Jidong community of Tangshan City were chosen from Jan.2012 to Dec.2012.The height(m),weight(kg),BMI,waistline(cm) and blood pressure(BP,mmHg) were detected.The levels of plasma glucose and blood fat(TG,TC,HDL-C and LDL-C) were detected by using hexokinase method and enzymic method respectively.The risk factors of diabetes were studied with logistic regression analysis.Results ①There were 485 diabetic patients(5.74%,male 318 and female 167) in surveyed population.②Age,BMI,waistline,BP,TG and TC were higher in diabetic patients compared with non-diabetic population(P0.01).③Age,TC,TG,waistline and systolic blood pressure were independent risk factors of diabetes.Conclusion The prevalence of diabetes was 5.74%,and the risk factors include age,TC,TG,waistline and systolic blood pressure in Jidong community of Tangshan City.
