Aerodynamic derivatives of coupled/hybrid flutter of fundamental structural sections

Abstract The vibrational mode dependence of the aerodynamic forces (lift force, pitching moment) in flutter problems is discussed in this study. Rectangular models with cross sections having the slenderness ratio (chord/depth) 10 and 20 are investigated in wind tunnel tests. A new identification method of the aerodynamic derivatives, which are well-known description of flutter properties, is proposed by introducing an equivalent Theodorsen function. Applicability of these force to multiple-mode flutter analysis will be discussed.
