A New Gravity Energy Storage Operation Mode to Accommodate Renewable Energy

This paper puts forward to a new gravity energy storage operation mode to accommodate renewable energy, which combines gravity energy storage based on mountain with vanadium redox battery. Based on the characteristics of gravity energy storage system, the paper presents a time division and piece wise control strategy, in which, gravity energy storage system occupies a dominant position supplemented by vanadium redox batter. On the basis of the stress analysis of heavy objects and energy conversion process of gravity energy storage, the paper lists the optimization objective function of the new model. Finally, the validity and feasibility of the gravity energy storage operation mode and control strategy are verified by simulation.
