Structural properties of nano-crystalline Mg-Ferrite prepared by microwave sintering technique

2017
ABSTRACTNano-crystalline magnesium ferrite was prepared by oxalate co-precipitation method. The sample was presintered and sintered by microwave technique. It was characterized by X- ray diffraction; Scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques. The X- ray diffraction study shows the formation of single phase cubic spinal structure. The crystallite size of the ferrite under investigation was calculated by using Debye-Scherrer formula. It is found to be in the nano-crystalline range (40.59 nm). The grain size calculated from SEM image lies in the range of 2 µm. The FTIR shows two major absorption bands near 400 cm−1 and 600 cm−1 corresponding to tetrahedral and octahedral site complexes confirming well formation of ferrite. The novel of this study was requires minimum time and low energy consumption.
