Alteraciones de las lipoproteínas de alta y baja densidad en pacientes coronarios con C-LDL en meta pero C-HDL y triglicéridos anormales

SummaryH IGH AND LOW DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN ABNORMALITIES INCORONARY PATIENTS WITH LDL-C AT TARGET ANDUNCONTROLLED HDL-C AND TRIGLYCERIDES Objective: To investigate the high density lipo-protein (HDL) subclasses distribution and che-mical composition, as well as low density lipo-protein (LDL) size and LDL oxidation, in coro-nary male patients treated with statins, that hadLDL-cholesterol levels at target (< 100 mg/dL),but whose HDL-cholesterol (< 40 mg/dL) andtriglycerides (TG ≥ 150 mg/dL) levels were ab-normal. The control group was formed by statintreated coronary male patients with LDL-C be-low 100 mg/dL and normal HDL-C and TG le-vels. Material and methods : HDL subclassesand LDL size were determined by gradient gelelectrophoresis. LDL susceptibility to oxidationwas determined by measuring lag phase dura-tion, after adding the oxidant agent. Results :Compared with the control group (n = 35), pa-tients with low HDL-C + high TG (n = 34) showedsignificantly lower proportions of large HDL andhigher proportions of small HDL particles. Inaddition, these patients had abnormal HDL com-position, smaller LDL size, and higher LDL sus-ceptibility to oxidation (p < 0.05 for all).
