In cardiac valvular disease, the presence or absence of pulmonary hypertension is often a critical factor in deciding if surgery is feasible. In a verbal and pictorial report, the unique value of pulmonary cineangiography in discovering the true and variable character of the pathologic changes that underlie elevated pulmonary arterial pressure is explored and interpreted on the basis of a study correlating postmortem and radiographic findings.
