Spin analysis of charmed mesons produced in e+e- annihilation

We have studied the threshold production and decay angular distribution of the neutral charmed mesons produced in e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation. We find consistency with the expected spin values of 0 and 1 for the ground excited states D and D*, respectively. We rule out the alternative spin assignment of 1 for the D and 0 for the D*.
