Effect of MGB on the Obese Type 1 Diabetic

After bariatric operations, failure of long-term resolution of diabetes has been reported in 5–10% of patients. This has been attributed to inadequate weight loss, weight regain or previous longstanding type 2 diabetes. In these patients, latent autoimmune diabetes (a type 1) may not have been ruled out, and these patients may have been erroneously assumed to have type 2 diabetes.
