Development of Heat Reflection Coating and Observation of Its Road Performance

The heat balance equation of asphalt pavement was built based on analysis of the working environment.The balance temperature of asphalt pavement can be effectively reduced by increasing the albedo of pavement surface which is propitious to reduce rutting and urban heat island effect,and using heat reflection coating can increase the albedo effectively.Three new heat reflection coatings for road were designed.The lowering temperature effect of new designed coatings and an aboard one were tested in lab.At last,the performance of anti-skid and glare of the coatings were observed on the test road,and the economy of the coatings was also analysed.The results show that(1) the designed heat reflection coatings can decrease surface temperature about 11.4℃ farthest;(2) the anti-skid performance of the pavement which using the coatings decreases slightly but still satisfy requirement;(3) glare performance of new heat reflection coatings is between that of common pavement and traffic line,and reduces with service.The cost of the designed coating materials is cheap and be used as a preventive maintenance method.
