Silver nanoparticle decorated halloysite nanotube for efficient antibacterial application

2019
Abstract In this contribution, Ag nanoparticle (AgNP) decorated halloysite nanotube (HNT@Ag) is produced via an environmental friendly one-pot chemical reduction method using ascorbic acid as reducing agent. The AgNP with particle size about 10 nm is self-assembled uniformly across the 1D HNT to form hierarchical nanostructure, and the obtained HNT@Ag shows unique advantages over traditional counterparts to facilitate the dispersity and control the distribution of AgNP. Most importantly, the HNT@Ag exhibits unexpected antibacterial activity against E . coli bacteria. Therefore, this simple processing, green and cost-saving route combined with beneficial qualities of HNT@Ag has great potential in high efficient antibacterial applications.
