Intelligent on-chip analysis of thrombosis in ecmo with a goat model

2020
In COVID-19 therapy, the long-term foreign body contact of blood with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines often leads to thrombus formation and serious complications such as stroke and heart attack However, it is challenging to evaluate the status of the extracorporeal circulation due to the lack of tools Here we present an intelligent Platelet Aggregate Characterizer (iPAC) on a microfluidic chip to demonstrate temporal monitoring of platelet aggregation in ECMO using a goat model Our work holds promise for elucidating the mechanism of thrombogenesis in extracorporeal life support, which may benefit the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19-related thrombotic disorders © 2020 CBMS-0001
