Viral Myocarditis: Symptomatology, Clinical Diagnostics and Haemodynamics

1984
In clinical practice viral heart disease frequently do not lead to clear-cut diagnosis. Based on numerous clinical observations and experimental studies, it nevertheless seems safe to assume that viral heart disease may be of major importance for the course and perhaps even for the pathogenesis of other heart diseases such as congestive cardiomyopathy. As described in the literature, most excellently presented in such broad surveys as those by Abelmann in 1973 [1], Woodruff [24], and Scholme-rich [19], viral cardiopathies provide at least in some cases the initial stage for congestive cardiomyopathy.
